Executive Director Job Description

Job Title: Executive Director

Reports to: Director of Operations

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary

The Executive Director will be leading and overseeing all the strategic and operational aspects of the community. Will be responsible for building and promoting a positive and rewarding environment for the residents and team members as well as meet and exceed overall business goals. Ensure the day-to-day operations of the community are handled safely, and in compliance with the different laws and company’s policies and procedures. Communicate, cultivate and reinforce the Vision and Values of Provision Living.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Lead the administration, human capital, sales, marketing, and financial management of the community
  • Contribute and develop lead generation and lead management strategies to increase and maintain the occupancy rate
  • Improve systems that directly affect occupancy, i.e. inquiry procedures and skills, tour effectiveness, closing techniques, follow-up systems, and resident satisfaction
  • Create an environment where residents are thriving by planning, carrying out and evaluating services based on the needs, interests, and choices of the residents
  • Plan, manage and monitor the community’s budget to ensure meeting revenue and occupancy goals
  • Ensure that emergency procedures are in place and workable
  • Ensure that maintenance needs and requests are processed
  • Monitor and ensure standards are followed for food service
  • Maintain an updated knowledge of all Provision Living goals, policies, practices and procedures
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance to the Company policies, the Code of Ethical Business Conduct and applicable laws. 

Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 

Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university 

Skills/Experience 

  • Administrator license required
  • Experience with leading a senior living community (assisted living and memory care) is strongly preferred; understanding of dementia and Alzheimer
  • Proven leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in implementing overall company strategies and initiatives
  • Understanding of finance, accounting, budgeting, human resources, and marketing basics
  • Effective problem solving and conflict management skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive or difficult issues with grace and confidence
  • Flexibility to adopt and adapt with frequent operational changes

Travel 

Employee must be able to travel 10% of the time.

To excel in this role, it is crucial for the employee to be prepared for the possibility of working with residents who may exhibit disruptive behaviors, including verbal or physical contact issues. The physical demands outlined below are indicative of those essential for job performance, and reasonable accommodations can be arranged to facilitate individuals with disabilities in carrying out these vital functions. In the course of performing job duties, the employee will routinely engage in activities such as sitting, standing, walking, using hands to handle and feel, reaching with hands and arms, talking, and hearing. Additionally, there may be occasional requirements for crouching and lifting items weighing up to 50lbs. The employee's specific vision abilities should encompass the capacity to see both near and far distances.
